Teamcore Lab celebrates 27th Anniversary

September 9, 2022

On Friday, September 9, 2022, Professor Milind Tambe celebrated the 27th anniversary of his lab, Teamcore. The event, which was delayed for two years due to covid, was good-humoredly called, "25+2; Multiagent systems, Machine Learning, and Social Impact." Alumni from all over the world traveled to the reunion held at Harvard's Loeb House, sharing updates on their current work in artificial intelligence and expressing their appreciation for Milind's mentorship and support over the last two decades. Amidst light-hearted teasing, Gal Kaminka - Professor at Bar Ilan University and Prof. Tambe's very first graduate student - imparted three crucial lessons he took from Teamcore:

  • Somtimes a "good question" is hiding right in front of your nose.
  • Find your guiding principle early, and stick to it.
  • Find a great mentor, a great family, to learn from, and then work to recreate that in your own labs or teams.

Other attendees included researchers from Google, Microsoft, and DeepMind, professors from several universities, including Carnegie Mellon, the University of Chicago, the University of Michigan, and the University of Alberta; directors at Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley, and current Teamcore doctoral students (for a full list visit our Alumni and reunion Conference pages). The group concluded the celebration with a dinner cruise on the Boston Harbor.
