Hongjin is a first-year Ph.D. Student in Computer Science, passionate about using Artificial Intelligence for social impact, especially for combating climate change. She was born and raised in Guangzhou, China, and moved to the US for her undergraduate degree in Mathematics and Computer Science at Occidental College. She received her master’s degree in data science from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Before Harvard, she worked as a research fellow at Stanford Law School, where she developed and evaluated Machine Learning systems to help reduce water pollution, in partnership with the EPA. Most recently, she completed a 200hrs yoga training program in Bali and is excited to talk/do yoga whenever. When she is away from her computer, she loves to spend time in nature, dance, and play the ukulele.
